Flavor TextThe target is cut with a scythe or a claw. Critical hits land more easily. It can also be used to cut down some obstacles.
The user readies its claw, blade or other sharp appendage, then delivers a quick, clean cut to its opponent's body. The precision involved in preparing and completing the attack often lets the user hit weak points with greater ease.
Over the past few years, DiCadria Enterprises has been experimenting with an upgraded version of the Cut HM that is more precise, more powerful and therefore better able to cut back the hardier plants often found on certain parts of Kronea Island and elsewhere. Now that this "Cut 2.0" has been finalized it is being distributed throughout Zencalia, with plans to begin distribution in other areas (and therefore phasing out of the weaker, "1.0" version) being discussed.
(Note: Obviously, Cut is a canon move that does not normally have these properties. When Black and White gave Tackle a power and accuracy boost, Cut (which now had the same 50 power as the new Tackle but worse accuracy) effectively became even more useless than it already was. While this "upgraded" version is still most useful as an early-game move, it does at least do more to set itself apart from the most basic, vanilla move in the game, as any self-respecting HM should. It also clears a new type of obstacle, in addition to the scrawny saplings that any moderately-trained Bulbasaur should probably be able to cut down without assistance in the first place. )
User's critical hit rate is one level higher when using this move.
Cuts down skinny trees and thick patches of overgrowth that block paths.
