Mycolant lure their victims deep into the mire using the light emanating from their caps. Even those who know that the light is a trap are unable to look away from the glowing face, and they are drawn unwittingly to their doom.
Mycolant seem to be fond of other eerie creatures of the darkness, and may be fooled by disguises. It is said that if a child in a costume is lost at night, a Mycolant may appear to lead it back to safety instead of harm.
Name Origin
myco-, a prefix meaning "mushroom" + jack-o'-lantern
