Boltarek uses its heavy claws to dig up insects to eat, but in recent years it has started pulling up buried cables near cities in search of electricity. Severe blackouts and other disruptions are attributed to the digging of hungry Boltarek.
Boltarek prefers to avoid confrontation, and rattles its stiff quills to warn off attackers before resorting to a fight. The rapid shaking of the quills generates electricity that serves as a further defense.
