An Adargana's parents will slice off a piece of a tree stump for their offspring to use as a practice shield. Adargana learn how to block attacks with their shields at an early age, although some have difficulty handling the large objects and drop them on occasion.
Adargana carry their practice shields everywhere so that they can adjust to the weight. Sometimes they use the shield as a table when stopping to eat.
