Tunnelid move through the soil by eating their way through the earth. They can dig both forward and backward thanks to the second mouth on their tails.
Tunnelid prepare for evolution by dramatically increasing the amount of earth they eat. Farmers often invite growing Tunnelid to dig under their fields, as the soil the Pokémon produce when near evolution is said to be the richest in the world.
