Introducing the Fakemon Generator

"A Fairy-type fakemon that is based on a newt. It is a huge creature with a barking cry that stands on four legs, has spikes on its back and two heads, and its primary color is gray. It lives in the sea. Its abilities are Forecast and Insomnia, and its moveset includes Extrasensory, Helping Hand and Stomp."

I wasn't able to get any new fakemon done this month due to a combination of Camp NaNoWriMo and a hand injury, but I do come bearing a nifty little toy for you all! Say hello to the Fakemon Generator, a new tool that spits out text descriptions of fascinating fakemon with the press of a button! It's very similar to generators found on sites like Seventh Sanctum, but rather than helping you with ideas for story prompts or elf and goblin names or catgirl characters, this generator is geared specifically toward creating the collectible critters we all know and love. I've already got a list of several hundred bases, including animals, fantasy/sci-fi creatures, inanimate objects, plants, minerals, people and even a few miscellaneous extras, and it also suggests things like type combinations, example moves and abilities, interesting physical details, sizes, what the cries might sound like... it's even got the canon FRLG habitats, the pokédex colors and pokédex body shapes. All of that together should add up to countless combinations and endless inspiration! (How well those combinations actually fit together is, of course, another question entirely...)

The little intro quote up there is just one example of the gems this baby can produce. Here, have a few more!

"A Flying/Poison-type fakemon that is based on a birthday cake. It is a medium-sized creature with a buzzing cry that stands on four legs, has a skinny body and a short body, and its primary color is blue. It lives in grasslands. Its abilities are Imposter and Shield Dust, and its moveset includes Copycat, Magnitude and Hydro Cannon."

"A Steel-type fakemon that is based on a pizza. It is a large creature with a humming cry that is serpentine, has large spots, and its primary color is gray. It lives on rough terrain. Its abilities are Fur Coat and Synchronize, and its moveset includes Chip Away, Assurance and Stored Power.."

"A Water-type fakemon that is based on a magical girl. It is a child-sized creature with a roaring cry that is insectoid, has thick fur and no neck, and its primary color is blue. It is rare and its habitat is not well-known. Its only ability is Weak Armor, and its moveset includes Flying Press, Dive and Sunny Day."

And just to prove that it can occasionally get lucky and barf up something that's actually kinda coherent off the bat:

"A Ghost-type fakemon that is based on a pumpkin. It is a tiny creature with a laughing cry that has tentacles, has a short neck and a long nose, and its primary color is purple. It lives in grasslands. Its ability is Limber, and its moveset includes Poison Sting, Poison Fang and Chip Away."

"A Dark/Water-type fakemon that is based on a velvet worm. It is a medium-sized creature with a singsong cry that has a head and legs but no arms, has a short neck, and its primary color is blue. It lives by the water's edge. Its abilities are Poison Heal and Gooey, and its moveset includes Fury Attack, Shadow Force and Thief."

"An Electric-type fakemon that is based on an eel. It is a gigantic creature with a timid cry that has fins, has curved horns and a scaly underbelly, and its primary color is yellow. It lives in urban environments. Its abilities are Skill Link, Chlorophyll and Tangled Feet, and its moveset includes Taunt, Strength and V-create."

The Fakemon Generator can be found under the Resources section of the menu, ready and waiting whenever you need to add a little spice to your fakedex. I'll probably add new bases and physical descriptors over time, and maybe additional colors and habitats and such (although for now, as said above, I'm sticking to the ones pulled from the canon pokédexes). It's a pretty simple tool overall and should be working fine, but do contact me and let me know if you run into any problems.

There's no credit required for using any of the results you get, although it would be cool if you could mention the generator to other people so they can play with it, too!

Enjoy! Now that my hand is starting to feel better, I should be able to get back into fakemon art pretty soon!
