Protean

Flavor Text

Changes the Pokémon’s type to the type of the move it’s using.

Effect

Changes the bearer's type to match the first move it uses in battle, except Struggle. The bearer always becomes single-type, even if it was dual-type before. Hidden Power counts as the bearer's individual Hidden Power type, not Normal. Camouflage first causes the user to become Normal, then has its usual effect and changes the user's type based on the current battlefield. The bearer's new type remains until it switches out or some other effect changes it again, although losing this ability will not cause it to revert to its usual type in and of itself.

The type change takes place just before the move is used, so this Pokémon will always receive the same-type attack bonus and Toxic will always hit. The type change will still occur if the move misses or is blocked (e.g., by Protect or by an immunity), but will not occur if the move is not actually executed (e.g., the Pokémon hurt itself in confusion).
